I Believe

Some Proof....

Many of us believe in a higher power. Has there ever been an event in your life that deepened your beliefs that something guides us?

I have felt a strong presence of those that have gone without ever seeing the ghost. I also have a strong intuition when I should not trust a person. Unfortunately, I do not have the ability to know....

Why I should be leery of the person? What is their scheme? I just know to try to watch my behind. I also know before I get home if my boys got into trouble at school. Honestly, I just know. In the past, I would rush home to hug them. Currently, I stop at Starbucks to catch my breath before I go home to hear what happened. They are old enough now to try to fend for themselves.

The most fascinating story of a higher power watching over you was from a friend. She woke up in the middle of the night. For no reason, some thing made her go wake up her son to look at his arm. Without any prior knowledge of a problem, she flipped on the light to see his arm swollen up to twice the size. The hospital told her that if it had been much longer that he might have lost the arm.

Do you have a story to share?

I almost died once. I was in a hospital drug induced coma for 5 days.. Wherever I was in this legal acid trip, everything was gray and damp, like I was on a sunken ship in an air pocket.. God spoke to me. He said "Get back to work, you piece of crap, I'm not done with you yet".. We are not saved, we exist to serve.

I don't have a specific story, but I'm a big believer in trusting your gut.

I think our subconscious minds are very powerful.

Although I struggle with the whole organized religion thing, I totally believe in instinct. I have learned to listen to my instincts.

As for spirits or whatever you choose to call them, I have to say I want to believe. Last year after my grandmother died, I was working on a slideshow presentation for her wake. I went through thousands of pictures, some dating back into the 1800's, and scanned them into the computer. As I was working on this, I felt her presence. The feeling was so strong it gave me chills. Maybe it was my imagination, but I don't think so.

great post...the storm knock out my net right as i was going to comment last night...got several stories...i recently wrote about my wifes wreck..flipped hood over trunk, caved in the roof...and the windows bent, for real...she walked away with a scratch. We prayed before she left and while she was not spared the wreck, she was spared injury...

I remember when Vlad was scheduled to have a spinal fusion. When the day came for the surgery, I was incredibly calm... for some reason I just knew he was going to be alright. (Of course, my ex, who claims to be very spiritual, was a basket case... drove me nuts!)

I have a couple instances that stand out in my mind, but one in particular is when I was in high school and I was out for a walk. It started getting dark and I was still a couple miles from home and I had a bad feeling... the kind that creeps up the back of your neck. Well all of a sudden a firefly blinked beside me. I don't know why, but that firefly made me feel better. It stayed by my side all the way home. When I turned to go into my cul-de-sac it flew away. It was the strangest calm I had ever felt.

I blogged about it once. (Too lazy to give you the link) When my mother was ill, there were a lot of instructions that she gave me and things that she did while under the influence of heavy medication that made no sense to me at all. Eventually by following her instructions just to keep her happy while still wondering WTH?, she laid the groundwork for me to be able to be with her night and day until the end while still working and keeping my job 200 miles away.

I was waiting and waiting....so glad you're here and that you're dancing with a full deck!

The closest thing I've ever felt to that would be in the two car accidents I've been in. Both of them should have ended in fatalities and did not.

My mother once woke up in the middle of the night and when she woke up she saw some lights moving around in a picture that was hung besides her. It was a picture of her and my father of their wedding day. She said that she wasn't fightened or anything, she was just looking at the lights moving around and how they slowly started to fade away. She said she immediately though of my father and wanted to call him but didn't and she didn't want to over-react. Later on that morning, my mom received a call from my dad saying that he was in a car accident, that he was OK but that he was lucky to be alive because his car got wrecked!!! My mom though that something god or angels came that night to warn her about it.

Too many to share. I can definitely say that I believe in a higher power that guides us in mysterious ways and we have to pay attention. It's not about lucky or unlucky or blessed or not blessed, it's all about attentivness and heeding warnings.
